Hay

Sixth Grade Age Children

Hay classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15 - 6:15 PM and on Shabbat (Saturday) from 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon.

Siddur skills and Hebrew will continue to develop with the text "The New Siddur Program for Hebrew and Heritage-Book 3". Torah study, begun in the Dalet year, will continue and will focus on the book of Exodus. The study of history will also continue beginning with Jewish life in the Middle Ages and concluding with modern times.

Concepts such as Mitzvah, Midrash and Halacha will be covered in the Basic Judaism portion of the curriculum. Students will explore their Jewish identity through a course in ethics. A study of life cycle events such as birth, baby naming, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, marriage, death and mourning will be undertaken.

Classes on Shabbat include Junior Congregation for the upper grades, which will meet from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend Junior Congregation with their children.
